Family Practice MD with OB and Hospital
MD/DO
Full spectrum family medicine in a group of community clinics and limited hospital setting. Position would be based at our hub clinic in Espanola with one to two days per month spent at Coyote and Chama clinics providing consultation to our nurse practitioners who staff those clinics.
Schedule includes 8-10 half day clinics per week providing acute and chronic primary care to all ages, with time carved out for one to two sessions of morning hospital rounds. One half day per month dedicated for nursing home rounds for a panel of 5-10 patients. One full day off every other week in exchange for participating in Q5-6 home-based call for maternity and pediatric inpatient services at Espanola Hospital.
Vaginal delivery including vacuum skills and cesarean section assist skills required. Excellent back-up by hospital-based obstetricians and pediatricians.
Spanish a strong plus as patient population includes some monolingual patients and many bilingual Hispanic New Mexicans.
Team approach includes telemedicine with UNM, diabetes education, dietician services, warfarin management, clinical pharmacist consultation, substance abuse counseling and psychiatric care, and promotoras cross-trained for support in several areas. In Espanola, the VA provides on site psychiatrist and LISW for support to modest veteran population.
Monthly provider breakfast meetings and 2-4 full day paid staff meetings yearly.
